here is the problem:
x^6+x^5+x^3+x+1/x^4-x^2+1

I keep getting the remainder wrong. the book says that it should be 2x^3 instead of x^3. how? This question is from textbook algebra and trigonometry structure and method book 2

Your book's solution is correct by the way. Maybe by examining what I worked out you can see where you are making your mistake.
