Area of triangle given by
Let base = x
multiply both sides by 2
x(x+25)=1250 remove bracket by multipling by x
subtract 1250 from both sides
a quadratic that factors easily to
(x-25)(x+50)=0
x-25=0
x=25
x+50=0
x=-50
so obviously x=25 inches is size of base.
Test by putting this figure into original equation
