Question 163924: How do you solve the following problem? I hope I am writing it correctly.
x^2-y^2 over 2x all over x+y over x^2
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2-y^2 over 2x all over x+y over x^2
----------------------------------------
[(x^2-y^2)/2x] / [(x+y)/x^2]
Invert the denominator and multiply:
[(x^2-y^2)/2x] * [x^2/(x+y)]
Cancel factors that are common to a numerator and a denominator,
such as (x+y), and x:
= [(x-y)/2] * [x/1]
= [x(x-y)/2]
