.
Simplify (i + 1)(100) - (i - 1)(100)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open parentheses   (100i + 100) - (100i - 100).
Combine real parts separately and imaginary parts separately
                   (100i + 100) - (100i - 100) = (100 + 100) + (100i - 100i).
The sum of real parts is 200.  The sum of imaginary parts is 0: they cancel each other.
ANSWER.  After simplification, the value of the given expression is 200.
Solved, with all necessary explanations.
