Question 1057894: Find The Value Of X and Y
2(3+4i)-2(x-yi)=x+yi
Answer by solve_for_x(190) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiplying out the terms gives:
6 + 8i - 2x + 2yi = x + yi
Separating the real and imaginary parts of that equation gives the following two equations:
6 - 2x = x
8i + 2yi = yi
Solving the first for x gives:
3x = 6
x = 6/3
x = 2
Solving the second for y gives:
8i + 2yi = yi
8i = yi - 2yi
-yi = 8i
y = -8
Solution: x = 2, y = -8
