Question 1039277: Set up and solve using an Algebraic Equation. Write in a compete answer.

A water tank can be filled in 10 hours by an inlet pipe and emptied in 15 hours by an outlet pipe.
How long will it take to fill the tank if both pipes are left open?

Answer by solver91311(24713)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

If the tank can be filled in 10 hours, then of the tank is filled in one hour. Likewise, of the tank is emptied in one hour. So if they work together:

of the tank is filled in one hour. Hence:

hours

is the time it takes to fill the tank when the fill and the drain are both open. You can do your own arithmetic.
