Question 996603: My homework problem says "Write the sentence as an absolute value inequality, then solve the inequality" given "Half of a number n is at most 5 units from 14
I know the solutions in 18 is less than or equal to n is less than or equal to 38 but I can not figure out what the absolute value inequality is. I think it has something to do with the absolute value of n/2 and something to do with 14 plus or minus 5. Thank you

half the number n;
, how far from 14 is ;
, at most five units

This should also work as .
"Eighteen" is not the solution to the inequality.
Can you solve this inequality?

HINT: You have an inequality; not an equation. Take into account that could be non-negative or negative, meaning you need to solve for each case.
