Question 967094: 3|x-8|=2x-7

Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3|x-8|= 2x-7
Distribute
|3x - 24| = 2x - 7
remove absolutes, find two solutions
3x - 24 = 2x - 7
3x- 2x = -7 + 24
x = +17
and
3x - 24 = -(2x - 7)
3x - 24 = - 2x + 7
3x + 2x = 7 + 24
5x = 31
x = 31/5
x = +6.2
