What is x?

Answer by fcabanski(1391)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
|8-4x| < 6

What's inside the absolute value can be either positive or negative, because absolute value makes everything positive.

For the positive value: 8-4x<6

-4x <-2

x > 2/4

x>1/2

For the negative value: -(8-4x) <6

-8 + 4x <6

4x < 14

x < 14/4

x<7/2

The solution is 1/2 < x < 7/2
