Question 604680: write expression w/o absolute value symbol.
|1-sqrt(2)|

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
    _
|1-Ö2|
       _
Since Ö2 is greater than 1, then
   _
1-Ö2

is negative, so to make it positive, we have to multiply

it by -1:
      _
-1(1-Ö2)
      _
-1 + Ö2

But if we don't like a negative sign in front we can change
it to:
 _
Ö2 = 1
