solve |3x+5| - 7 >  -5 answer in interval notation

First isolate the absolute value on the left by ading
7 to both sides

      |3x+5| - 7 > -5
              +7   +7
     ----------------- 
          |3x+5| > 2

There are two rules for removing absolute value bars

1. To remove the absolute value bars of

     |expression| < A , where A is a positive number,

replace it by this:

     -A < expression < +A

2. To remove the absolute value bars of

     |expression| > A , where A is a positive number,

replace it by this:

   expression < -A  OR expression > A

Since |3x+5| > 2 involves >, we replace it by:

     3x + 5 < -2   OR   3x + 5 >  2
         -5   -5            -5   -5
    ------------       -------------
     3x     < -7   OR   3x     > -3    
               
         x < -7/3  OR  x > -1

             -7/3        -1
