Question 535783: -7 |x+12| +3 >17
Answer by SylvieCarroll(3)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We need to get the absolute value ( |x+12| ) all on it's own.
Subtract 3 from both sides.
-7 |x+12| > 14
Divide both sides by -7. When you divide an inequality by a negative, the sign flips.
|x+12| < -2

You have to solve this two ways.
First: x+12 < -2
Second: x+12 > 2

First:
Subtract 12 from both sides to get:
x < -14

Second:
Subtract 12 from both sides to get:
x > -10

So there are your solutions for x:
x < -14
x > -10
