Question 516155: |3x+5|=1
3x-5=1
3x=6
x=2
I dont remember exactly what you do with absolute value, but this is my
attempt.

Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the absolute value means that 3x+5 equals ±1, so you solve for BOTH solutions

3x + 5 = 1 ___ 3x = -4 ___ x = -4/3

3x + 5 = -1 ___ 3x = -6 ___ x = -2
