a - 4 = 5/3 and a - 4 = -5/3
3a - 12 = 5 and 3a - 12 = -5
3a = 17 and 3a = 7
a = 17/3 = 5 2/3 and a = 7/3 = 2 1/3
2)
|x/3 - 1| = |1 - x/3|
x/3 - 1 = 1 - x/3 and x/3 - 1 = -1 + x/3
x - 3 = 3 - x and x - 3 = -3 + x
2x = 6 and -3 = -3
-3 = -3
