Question 443443: 1. Sam and Max went to the Taco Barn for lunch. Max paid $2.66 for three tacos and a medium drink. Sam paid $3.70 for five tacos and a medium drink.
a. Use the information provided to write a system of two equations.
b. Use the substitution method to solve the system of equations.
c. How much would the bill be for one taco and one medium drink?
I need to show all work is this right?
3x + y = 2.66 (1) x = tacos, y = drink
5x + y = 3.70 (2)
2x = 1.04
x = 0.52
Sub in 1
3x + y = 2.66
1.56 + y = 2.66
y = 2.66 - 1.56
y = 1.10
Check in (2)
5x + y = 3.70
2.60 + 1.10 = 3.70
x = $0.52 y = $1.10
c. 1.10 + 0.52 = $1.62
