Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
|4|+|-9|
Absolute value is the magnitude, or the distance from zero and is always positive.
|-9| = 9
--> |4| + |-9| = 4+9 = 13
---------------------------
this is one of many problems i have to solve..you think you can help me explain?
i also have "Addition and Subtractions"
(-18)-9=?
-18-9 = -27
-------------
Multiplication n division
(-63)/(-7)
= (-1)*63/((-1)*7)
The -1's cancel
= 63/7
= 9
--------
and one more
Exponents and Radicals
(-2)8
If that's
= +256
An even power makes it positive.
