Question 25917: Does all the signs change when i ex. -7(x+3)=42 what is my next step with the -7?
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-7(x+3)=42 means -7 multiplied by (x+3), so do each step in your head as:
-7 * +x --> -7x
-7 * +3 --> -21
so we get -7x-21 = 42
hence -7x = 42+21
-7x = 63
x = 63/-7
x = -9
