[-7] = +7,,,,,,absolute value is always positive as it is the distance to zero.

The opposite of (-7) = +7, number and opposite add to 0

however the absolute value (of a negative) always has character of the negative, if only in direction. (between your house and school might have positive character, between school and your house, negative character)
