remove the absolute brackets on the right
|4x - 5| = 5
:
remove the absolutes on the left and solve two equations:
4x - 5 = 5
4x = 5 + 5
4x = 10
x =
x = 2.5
and
4x - 5 = -5
4x = -5 + 5
4x = 0
x = 0

check both solutions in original equation:
