lets set aside the c for a moment

we are working with the x squared term and the x term when completing a square.
:
here's how it works . Take the absolut value of the coefficient of the x term in our case the number is -18 , but again its the absolute value so we are working with 18. Now divide that value by 2. 18/2=9. Now we take that value, 9 in our case and square it. . We now have the number to complete the square

see that number 81. That is the value of c
