(t+1)/t=4 I assume that this is the problem.
t(t+1)/t=4t
t+1=4t
t-t+1=4t-t
3t=1
3t/3=1/3
t=1/3

How do you set up the problem: t+1/t=4
--------------
Multiply thru by t
t^2 + 1 = 4t
t^2 - 4t + 1 = 0
Solved by pluggable solver: SOLVE quadratic equation (work shown, graph etc)
Quadratic equation (in our case ) has the following solutons:

For these solutions to exist, the discriminant should not be a negative number.

First, we need to compute the discriminant : .

Discriminant d=12 is greater than zero. That means that there are two solutions: .

Quadratic expression can be factored:

Again, the answer is: 3.73205080756888, 0.267949192431123. Here's your graph:

It's 2 + sqrt(3) and 2 - sqrt(3)
The on site solver always uses x, sub t for x.
