2x - 3x/4 = x/3 + 11/6
First, we'll get rid of the fractions by multiplying each term by the lowest common multiple (LCM)(Note: LCM in this case is the smallest number that 4, 3, and 6 will divide into and that is 12)
12(2x)-12(3x/4)=12(x/3)+12(11/6) simplifying, we get
24x-3(3x)=4(x)+2(11) or
24x-9x=4x+22 subtract 4x from each side
24x-9x-4x=4x-4x+22 collect like terms
11x=22 divide both sides by 11
x=2

substitute the x value into the original equation
2*2-3*2/4=2/3 + 11/6 and this equals
4-6/4=2/3 +11/6 again multiply each term by the LCM
48-18=8+22 collect like terms
30=30
