When a linear equation is in the form y = mx + b (which this one is) there are just a few things to remember:
m = the slope of the line
b = the y-intercept of the line (where the line crosses the y-axis)
x,y = the coordinates of any given point on that line
Using these guidelines:
In the equation y = 5x - 60:
m = 5 = slope
b = -60 = y-interecept
