Question 11743: how do i do this problem, step by step 4(x+8)<6x+20
Answer by elima(1433)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(x+8)<6x+20
To begin you want to go ahead and distribute the 4;
4*x+4*8<6x+20
4x+32<6x+20
Now subtract 4x on both sides:
4x - 4x+32<6x - 4x +20
32<2x+20
Now subtract the 20 from both sides;
32 - 20< 2x +20-20
12<2x
Divide 2 on both sides:
12/2<2x/2
6 So that means any number greater than 6 fits the eqaution.
Hope this helps.
