That's the distributive principle which is

A*(B+C) = A*B+A*C

In your problem, A is 2, B is -4 and C is 5

You can do it yourself.  Here is one just like it to go by:

3*(-5+6) = 3*-5 + 3*6 = -15 + 18 = 3
