If the height stays the same, then the volume will be increased by a factor of 3^2 = 9.

If the height also triples, then the volume will be increased by a factor of 3^3 = 27

-------------------------------------------------------

If you want the volume to increase by a factor of 6, then you need to multiply the height by 2/3

This is because (3^2)*(2/3) = 9*(2/3) = 6

So I would say that without any info on what happens to the height, it's impossible to say if she is correct or not. If the height stays the same or triples along with the base, then she is incorrect.
