Question 842300: a cube that measures 5cm on a side holds a smaller cube inside it that measures 4cm on a side. What is the volume of emply space inside the larger cube?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Volume of larger cube: V = s^3 = 5^3 = 125 cubic cm

Volume of smaller cube: V = s^3 = 4^3 = 64 cubic cm

Difference in volumes: (larger volume) - (smaller volume) = 125 - 64 = 61

So the volume of the empty space is 61 cubic centimeters
