Question 763125: I need to know how to determine how many gallons of water would sphere hold if it is 35 feet high with a diameter of 32. I do not know how to multiply the 4/3 in the problem. Am I correct that the problem should be 4/3 x 3.14 x 16 to the third power and divided by 3?
Answer by josgarithmetic(39623) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You want to calculate the result of .
The "4" in the is a factor in the numerator. The "3" in the is a factor in the denominator. The factors in the denominator are DIVISORS.
Explain what you mean when you say, "sphere...is 35 feet high...". Do you mean the distance from the sphere to the ground is 35 feet? Or do you mean it is filled with water to a level of 35 feet? If the first one, then your use of the formula is correct, since how high from the ground is the sphere makes no difference.
