The cone has a radius of 3 and a slant height of 5, so knowing that 3-4-5 is a Pythagorean triple, we can see that the height of the cone is 4. Since the radius of the hemisphere is 3, the depth of the hemisphere must also be 3. 17 minus 4 minus 3 leaves 10 which must then be the height of the cylinder. Calculate the volume of each part of the whole using the formulas for the volume of a cone, cylinder, and hemisphere (1/2 times the volume of a sphere of the same radius). Add the three volumes together.
