If the overall length of the tank is 20 ft and the volume is 50 pie cubic ft,
find the common radius of the hemispheres and the cylinder.

Let r = the common radius
The length of the cylinder portion = (20-2r)
:
hemisphere volumes + cylinder portion = 50pi
* + =
divide thru by pi
* + = 50
:
* + = 50
multiply by 3
= 3(50)
:
= 150
:
= 0
simplify, divide by -2
= 0
