Question 512318: A robust first grader goes for swimming lessons three times a week, and he enjoys it thoroughly. During the first week of December, he develops an upper respiratory infection, starts coughing continuously, and has a high fever of 39°C. His condition remains the same even after five days of bed rest and conservative measures. Eventually, his mother decides to take him to the doctor who diagnoses it as an acute case of middle ear infection (otitis media), and prescribes amoxicillin for his treatment. He weighs 44lb, and the daily dose of amoxicillin for the treatment of the ear infection is 30mg/kg per day in divided doses every 12 hours.
(A)Determine the patient’s body temperature in Fahrenheit.

(B)Determine his dosage of amoxicillin in mg. per single dose.
MATH WORLD I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP I AM TAKING CHEMISTRY CAN YOU HELP ME ASAP PLEASE!!!!
Need to tell Edwin that total is divided into only 2(Two) doses . 1 dose every 12 hrs, NOT 12 doses of 50mg each...more like 300mg/q 12 hrs.I hope no one used that part of the answer.

He weighs 44lb, and the daily dose of amoxicillin for the treatment of the ear infection is 30mg/kg per day in divided doses every 12 hours.
(A)Determine the patient’s body temperature in Fahrenheit.
The easiest way to change temperatures either way is this 4-step rule:

1. Add 40°
2. (a) If Fahrenheit First, multiply by Five First
    (b) If not multiply by 9 first.
3. Divide by 9 or 5, whichever you didn't use in step 2.
4. Subtract 40°

1. Add 40° to 39°, get 79°
2. We use 2(b) because Fahrenheit was not First. We multiply
   by 9, getting 711
3. We divide by 5, because we didn't use 5 yet. We get 142.2
4. We subtract 40, getting 102.2°F

(B)Determine his dosage of amoxicillin in mg. per single dose.
We change his weight from pounds to kilograms by multiplying his
weight in pounds, 44, by 0.4536, so his weight in kilograms is 19.9584 kg.

Then we multiply by 30mg/kg and get 598.752 mg.

Then we divide by 12 doses and get 49.896 mg, and round to the nearest
mg, and get 50 mg.
