Suppose you travel north for 65 kilometers then travel east 75 kilometers. How far are you from your starting point?
Draw the picture.
You have two sides of a right triangle.
Join the end points and you will have the hypotenuse of the triangle.
The answer to your problem is the length of the hypotenuse.
h=sqrt(65^2+75^2)
h=sqrt9850=99.25 miles
