Solution,
since the height is not given, i'm going to assumed the area is the cross-sectional of the given cylinder,
the area asking is the area of the circle,
A = pi*r^2
and r = 9 in.
thus area,
A = 9^2* pi
A = 81pi sq. inches <---- answer
