21. How many gallons of fuel will be contained in a rectangular tank that measures 2 feet in width, 3 feet in length, and 1 foot 8 inches in depth (7.5 gallons = 1 cubic foot)?
-----------
The volume in cubic feet = 2*3*(1 8/12)
V = 10 cf
Gallons = 10 cf * 7.5 gallons/cf
= 75 gallons
-----------
a. 110
b. 75
c. 66.6
d. 55
e. 45
22. A rectangular bin 4 feet long, 3 feet wide, and 2 feet high is solidly packed with bricks whose dimensions are 8 inches by 4 inches by 2 inches. The number of bricks in the bin is
Change the dimensions to inches.
4*3*2 ft = 48*36*24 cubic inches
V = 41472 cubic inches.
----------------
Each brick is 8*4*2 cu inch = 62
41472/64 = 648 bricks
a. 54
b. 324
c. 648
d. 1072
e. 1296
