assuming that the tunnel is 1m cubed all the length, you can multiply the the weight for each meter of the length of the tunnel,
now you first convert the tunnel length into meters from kilometers, with the rule 1000m to a km. so 5(1000) the tunnel is 5000m long,
now you multiply out 5000 by 2.5 tonnes to get 12500 tonnes of earth
