You want to solve for 'x', ie you want to isolate 'x'. So you have to get the 27 to the other side. To do so, simply add -27 to both sides, or subtract 27 from both sides

Notice how 27+(-27)=27-27=0 so this means that the 27's cancel out on the left side.
