Question 29683: please illustrate the figure..
each side of a cube is increased by 1%. by what percent is the volume increased?..
Answer by ikdeep(226) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the side of the cube = 100 units
therefoere the volume of cube = (100)^3 (formula = side^3)
= 1000000 square units
Now when the side is increased by 1%....we get
The increased side of the cube = 101 units
(increased side is calculted like this = 100 +1%of 100)
( = 100 + 1/100 *100)
(= 100+1 )
(= 101 units)
Therefoere the increased volume of cube = (101)^3
= 1030301 square units
Increase in volume = new volume - original volume
= 1030301 - 1000000
= 30301 square units
% Increase in volume = Increase in volume / original volume *100
= 30301/1000000 * 100
= 3.0301 % or 3 % appoximately
