The pipe is in a shape of a cylinder, so you use the formula
where the radius is 24 inches ( feet) and the length is 100 feet.
Solution is 502.65.
Since it is different, maybe the person who gave you the answer miscalculated, so I would double check with the teacher or a classmate.
