Question 272227: A cylindrical water container AA is 7cm in diameter and 5cm in height . another cylindrical container BB is twice the size of AA in diameter and height . how much more water can be stored in BB than AA ?
A 110 cubic cm
B 330 cubic cm
C 770 cubic cm
D 5,390 cubic cm
E 6,060 cubic cm

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
volume of a cylinder is pi * r^2 * h

7 cm diameter means 3.5 cm radius.

we have:
r = 3.5
h = 5
v = pi * r^2 * h = pi * 3.5^2 * 5 = 192.42255 cubic centimeters.

double the diameter and double the height and you get:

14 cm diameter means 7 cm radius.

we have:
r = 7
h = 10
v = pi * r^2 * h = pi * 7^2 * 10 = 1539.3804 cubic centimeters.

1539.3804 minus 192.42255 = 1346.95785 cubic centimeters.

The larger contains can hold 1346.95785 more cubic centimeters than the smaller container.

I don't see that selection so I would have to say none of the above.
