Question 271111: A house is to be built on a rectangular concrete slab measuring 54 feet by 23 feet. If the slab is to be 6 inches thick, how many cubic yards of concrete will be needed?
Attempted work: 54*23=1242, 1242/3=414 (1yard =3feet). I feel like I'm missing a step, where does the 6inch thick slab come in?
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1242 is the area of the slab
the volume is the area multiplied by the .5ft thickness ___ v = 621 ft^3
there are 3^3 ft^3 in a yd^3
v = 621/27 yd^3
