First you have the wrong area formula.
Area=L*W*H
256=x*x*x/2
256=x^3/2
x^3=256*2
x^3=512
x=cubert512
x=8 ans. for the sides of the square base.
8/2=4 ans. for the height of the box.
Proof:
256=8*8*4
256=256
