Question 168701: the dimensions o a brick are 1 in * 2 in * 8 in. how many of these bricks are needed to have a total volume of exactly 1 cubic foot?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Note: we need to get ALL units to be equal (ie get everything to inches or feet)
Total Volume:
1 cubic foot = 12 inches * 12 inches * 12 inches = 1,728 cubic inches
Volume of One Brick:
1 in * 2 in * 8 in = 16 cubic inches
Now divide the total volume (1,728 cubic inches) by the volume of 1 brick (16 cubic inches)
So you need 108 bricks to get 1 cubic foot.
