Question 110706: Geometry. The volume of the box is represented by(x2 + 5x + 6)(x + 5) . Find the polynomial that represents the area of the bottom of the box. (x + 2) is the height of the box.
Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
V=LWH where L is length, W is width and H is height
Area of the bottom=LW
So
LWH=(x^2+5x+6)(x+5) but note that x^2+5x+6 can be factored:
The factors are (x+3)(x+2)
Since we are told that x+2 is the height, then the length and width must be:
(x+3)(x+5) so:
Area of bottom =LW=(x+3)(x+5)
Hope this helps---ptaylor
