Question 1095207: You put 12 meatballs, each of which has a volume of 50cm^3 into a saucepan. Then you pour a can of tomato sauce with volume 500cm^3 into the saucepan. If the sauce/meatball mixture comes up to a height of 10cm, what is the area of the base of the saucepan in cm^2?

.
Let A be the area under the question, in centimeters squared.

Then your equation is 500 + 50*12 = A*10.

It says that the total volume of A*10 is the volume of the tomato sauce PLUS the volume of 12 meatballs.

Solve for A and get the answer.
