4y=2(x+1)^2-1

 y = (1/2)(x+1)^2 - 1/4

the vertex form of a parabola,  where(h,k) is the vertex

 Pt(-1,-1/4) is the vertex

y-intercept, when x  = 0

y = (1/2)*1 - 1/4

y = (1/2) Pt(0,1/4) the y intercept

x-intercept, when y = 0

 0 = (1/2)(x+1)^2 - 1/4

 1/4 = (1/2)(x+1)^2 

  2/4 = x^2 + 2x + 1

   0 = x^2 + 2x + 1/2
