time up = time down , so the ball falls from the peak in 1.25 sec

gravitational acceleration (g) is 32 ft/sec^2 ___ that means the velocity increases 32 ft/sec for each second of fall

falling for 1.25 sec means the ball is going 40 ft/sec at the bottom (almost 30 mph)

since the velocity was zero at the peak , the average velocity is (0 + 40)/2 or 20 ft/sec

20 ft/sec for 1.25 sec is 25ft ___ two and a half times the height of the rim
