To find the derivative of a monomial in x:

1. Multiply the exponent by the coefficient
2. Add -1 to the exponent.

To find the derivative of the first term 

1. Multiply the exponent  by the coefficient  getting 4
2. Add -1 to the exponent, getting 1 for the exponent,

So for the derivative of the first term we have  or just 

To find the derivative of the second term 

1. Multiply the exponent  by the coefficient  getting 4
2. Add -1 to the exponent, getting 0 for the exponent,

So for the second term we have  and since anything
