Question 84942: The population P of a certain culture is expected to be given by a model p=100e^(rt) where r is a constant to be determined and t is a number of days since the original population of 100 was established. Find the value of r if the population is expected to reach 200 in 3 days.

Question 84939: Greetings, My question is:
The amount A in an account after t years from an initial principle P invested at an annual rate r compounded continuously is given by A = Pert where r is expressed as a decimal. How many years will it take an initial investment of $1,000 to grow to $1,700 at the rate of 4.42% compounded continuously?

Question 85223: For the following equation, find the interval(s) where f(x) < 0
f(x) = 1/(x^2-2x-8)
(–4, 2)
(–2, 4)
(2, 4)
(2, 8)
I can't figure this one out. I know it's probly easy for most but assistance would be great.
Thanks

Question 85221: If f(x) = x(x – 1)(x – 4)2, use interval notation to give all values of x
where f(x) > 0.
a. (–∞, 0) ∪ (4, ∞)
b . (–∞, 1) ∪ (4, ∞)
c . (0, 1) ∪ (4, ∞)
d . (–∞, 0) ∪ (1, 4) ∪ (4, ∞)
I believe the answer is (–∞, 0) ∪ (4, ∞). Can someone please let me know if I'm right?
thanks

Question 85220: Greetings,
Any help with the following would be appreciated.
1. The table shows several values of the function f(x) = -x^3 + x^2 -x + 2. Complete the missing values in this table, and then use these values and the intermediate value theorem to determine (an) interval(s) where the function must have a zero.
x -2 , -1 , 0 , -1 , 2
f(x) 16 , ? , ? , ? , -4
Possible choices are:
(0, 1)
(1, 2)
(0, 1) ∪ (2, ∞)
(–∞, 0) ∪ (2, ∞)

Question 86013: Can you please help me with this problem. I need to solve for the following angle. This question is from Algebra II, A Beka Book.
The science club wants to find out the height of the school's flagpole. They found that if the rope attached to the top of the pole was lengthened, it formed an angle of 60 degrees with the ground, 14 ft. from the base of the pole. What is the length of the pole?
Thank you so much for your help.

Question 86014: I supplied the following equation earlier today that I needed to solve for x:
S=(1440*T)/(N*pi^2*D^2*x*acos((D-x)/D))
I have worked on it some more and substituted z for most of the variables. I now have this form.
D-x-D*cos(z/x)=0
I am afraid it cannot be solved because I keep ending up with x in either cos or acos. Is there a solution?
