Question 196089: Three forces acting at a point are in eqilibrium. These forces are 980 pounds, 760 pounds, and 1220 pounds. Find the angles between the directions of the forces.
My trig teacher told me to place all the vectors head to tail to form a triangle and find the angles using the law of consines. I got the angles 88.1, 38.5, and 126.6 but they add up to 180 not 360 like if the forces were actually pulling.

Question 196575: 1.The water at a local beach has an average depth of 1 metre at low tide. The average depth of the water at high tide is 8 m. If one cycle takes 12 hours:
a.Determine the equation of this periodic function using cosine as the base function where 0 time is the beginning of high tide.
b.What is the depth of the water at 2 am?
c.Many people dive into the beach from the nearby dock. If the water must be at least 3 m deep to dive safely, between what daylight hours should people dive?

Question 197410: Estimate the instantaneous rate of change:
a.for the function y = x^2 at the following x values:
i.x = 1
ii.x = 2
iii.x = 3
b.for the function y = x^3 at the following x values:
iv.x = 1
v.x = 2
vi.x = 3
c.Create two functions that can be developed from a) and b) that will give you the instantaneous rate of change without reducing the interval.
d.Use the reasoning from c) to find the instantaneous rate of change for:
iv.y = x^4 at x = 3
v.y = 3x^3 at x = 2
