Question 979963: Solve the equation on the interval [0,2pi)
4sec^2x-8=0
Type an exact answer in terms of pi. Use a comma to separate answers as needed. Use integers or fractions for any numbers in the expressions.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4 sec^2 x=8
sec^2 x=2
sec x = +/- sqrt (2)
sec x is 1/cos x
Therefore sqrt 2=1/cos x; cos x=1/sqrt(2) or sqrt (2)/2
That occurs at 45 degrees (pi /4) and all around the 0, 2 pi interval, since it is +/-
pi/4
3 pi/4
5pi/4
7 pi/4
